Description

Bulbar Features Dysphagia 1 "Liquids and/or solids - more often liquids first and later solids. Initially can be sensation of catching in throat, or choking when drinking quickly"

Methodology

I included -proxies e.g. fear of drinking liquids due to dysphagia, fork mashable dysphagia diet -treatment pathway codes and landmarks -dysphagia labelled as functional

I excluded precise syndromal conditions, and scores.

From the original research codes, I excluded the following which are not the symptom of dysphagia: 30233002 Swallowing painful (finding), 80126007 Plummer-Vinson syndrome (disorder), 258149004 Swallowing finding (finding). I could not find |982661000006108 Dysphagia (finding)| in SNOMED, but am confident this cluster includes all relevant terms with "dysphagia" in the Description

Codelists are developed by a broad community of users for individual study purposes, which may or may not meet the needs of other studies. They should not be thought of as universal definitions of a particular condition.

We don't offer any guarantees about what they do or don't identify. Users should carefully check that any codelist meets their needs, and seek clinical input where appropriate.
