Description

A SNOMED CT codelist for patients receiving monitoring of glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) tests, which contains a numerical value using the newer IFCC units.

Methodology

We identified the full set of HbA1c level codes (see HbA1c codelist), and excluded any codes which did not have a numerical value recorded in at least 95% of coded activity.

The older % measurement was excluded from this codelist, as a) the majority of patients who have this code receive the newer IFCC measurement on the same day, and b) the units are very different, making comparisons difficult.
