Codes that a GP could use to record that a patient has presented with sore throat, or a condition that might cause a sore throat. This includes conditions that can result in antibiotic prescribing in GP practices, but also non-bacterial causes of sore throat

Methodology
Context: For the Pharmacy First project
Inclusion/exclusion criteria:
Cloned from codelist : Symptoms: sore throat Identified from intial search terms outside of OpenCodelists: "throat" "pharyngitis" "tonsil" "laryngitis".
This code list included few additional terms (may be that were missed) : bacterial Lary, Phary, tonsils.
This codelist excludes fungal conditions
Clearly irrelevant codes excluded (with review by a second clinician)
Candidate codelist uploaded to OpenCodelists for review of candidate codes.
Excluded terms indicating disease, disorder or enlargement (but not necessarily pain) of throat structures (e.g., hypertrophy or hyperplasia of tonsils/pharynx/etc).
Borderline cases: See sensitivity vs specificity
Sensitivity vs specificity: The aim of this codelist to be reasonably sensitive to presentations that might suggest a presentation with sore throat
