We included :Clindamycin 150mg capsules , Clindamycin 300mg capsules , Clindamycin 300mg/5ml oral solution, Clindamycin 450mg/5ml oral solution,Clindamycin 75mg/5ml oral solution,Clindamycin 75mg capsules

Borderline cases

We excluded 600 mg formulations because doses of 600 mg to 2.7 g daily are typically administered intravenously in two to four divided doses (and may be increased in severe or life-threatening infections), indicating hospital-oriented parenteral treatment rather than routine community oral prescribing.

Sensitivity vs specificity

The codelist was designed to maximise specificity for oral community prescribing by including oral capsule and oral solution formulations while excluding injectable hospital-based preparations unlikely to reflect Pharmacy First prescribing activity

Additional information

Oral solution formulations were included to capture prescribing among patients unable to swallow capsules, including some paediatric or swallowing-impaired populations. The codelist focuses specifically on systemic oral clindamycin formulations relevant to primary care use.
