Inclusion/exclusion criteria
This codelist include codes that could be used in general practice for impetigo. We excluded codes that do not imply impetigo, or conditions similar to impetigo.
Borderline cases
From the original list provided by Open Safely the following codes were removed because they would not be used for impetigo or related conditions:
•Folliculitis related conditions
•Generalized pustular psoriasis of pregnancy 238613007 • Contagious porcine pyoderma removed as this is a disease of pigs • Impetigo herpetiformis 803971000000103 as this does not imply infective impetigo (similar to Generalized pustular psoriasis of pregnancy)
Sensitivity vs specificity
The aim of this codelist to be reasonably sensitive to conditions that are or are closely related to impetigo.
Additional information

Codelists are developed by a broad community of users for individual study purposes, which may or may not meet the needs of other studies. They should not be thought of as universal definitions of a particular condition.
We don't offer any guarantees about what they do or don't identify. Users should carefully check that any codelist meets their needs, and seek clinical input where appropriate.
