This is a codelist to identify new diagnoses of heart failure in A&E.

There are only a few permitted emergency department codes, but these form trees with hundreds of others as children - I have exluded these as 'not permitted'.

List of all codes related to heart failure, to exclude people with previous history or evidence of heart failure. This includes not only diagnoses, but heart failure-related medication reviews or management plans.

This list is meant to be very broad, and is not to be used to identify new diagnoses.

Codelist to identify new diagnoses of heart failure in secondary care (admitted patient care data).

JJL - I tried a few search terms to no benefit. I have included acute on chronic, as it is the diagnostic event, not new pathology that we are trying to identify. I excluded foetal/neonatal as this study is of adults.

Including stage B. Includes dilated CM. Includes monitoring and management but not referrals or clinics or education (clinic may rule out diagnosis).
